Yo funky people,

I've got a problem with my system. I bought a DELL pc. Everything on it: 2.4 Ghz, 512 RAM, Fast HD, and a Audigy soundcard which Í will not use for recording. As a OS I have Windows XP home.
It is a bit strange but I can only record with the Audiophile when I use the Audigy for playback on the out source. So when I select only the Audiophile driver in Sonar and want to record with it I get a dropout and it will not let me to record.
On my old pc I had W2k running with my audiophile and a live card and I had never any problems.

Has somebody a solution for my problem here?

See if disableling the Audigy in Sonar helps (Options -> Audio -> Drivers, deselect any Audigy-driver). Now you can even try ASIO-drivers and see if they work better for you...

You may also run the Wave-profiler again (Options -> Audio).

:)

Also you could check this...

Start/settings/control panel/sounds and devices/audio and check your settings there.
Just a long shot....

I had a very similar problem...

You might have to uninstall BOTH soundcards from Windows 'control panel', shut down your computer, and physically remove the SoundBastard card. Restart the computer, and the drivers should automatically re-install for the 24/96 card. Redo the wave-profiler for Sonar. THEN reinstall the SB card.

WinXP probably designated the SB card as WDM, because it was installed first. It won't ALSO designate the 24/96 as WDM, too. (Don't ask me why. That's just what it does, for some reason.)

That's not WinXPs fault, but the Creative drivers fault. Maybe that's whats going on, but I don't think so. Then Smilestoned wouldn't be able to use his Audiophile with Sonar at all...

But smilestone, you are better off removing the Audigy. You really don't need it, and Creatives drivers can bring any decent computer to it's knees...

;)

Thanks guys for all the information.
I tried everything even swap the cards in their pci slots. I ended up to install the ..31 beta driver for the audiophile card and yes it works. I have a latency of 10ms which is for me just a little bit too much because you can hear it when monitoring over sonar but with recording is it fine, I can work with it.
And yes Moskus I could remove the audigy. I use it in sonar only for the metronome in midi. I could sell it. Anyone interested? ;)

Go into your Delta control panel, click the hardware settings tab and reset the DMA buffer size to a lower setting. This will decrease your latency, but if you go to low you will experience pops and crackling.

On the M-Audio website they say that with this driver, WDM_5100031_BETA.EXE, it is not possible to change the latency but now I saw that they provide a beta driver for audio recording in Sonar. I did not see it first. I go try that one tomorrow.

You have a hammer, right?

Smash it and burn it while you dance around naked...
You'll never have problems again! :D

The other driver was okay. I've got a latency of 4,8 now. Just perfect.

Hey I have the same problem how did you get the latency of 4,8

You have to download a beta driver from the M-audio website. The one I use is 5.10.00.29x12 (beta).
Uninstall the curent driver before installing the beta.
And then change the buffer size in the card's interface.

I would start with 384 and then apply the wave profiler in Sonar. Try some recording with monitoring on. And then go down to 256 and so on.
