My setup is as follows:

Fostex R8, striped on track 8 with SMPTE Time code
Midiman 8x8 USB Midisport
PC running Cakewalk 1.3.1

Cakewalk is set to slave to the R8, I have the audio locked to the timecode (vs trigger and freewheel).

When I record a track with these settings, there is noticable high end issues. In this particular case cymbals sound "broken" durring the decay of the sound. When I record the same track with out syncing to the R8 the sound is "smooth" and natral sounding.

My question is, has anyone else had this problem, and if so how did you fix it?

I can upload samples tonight if that would be any help. Thanks in advance for your input.

sounds like u should probably make cakewalk the master and your fostex the slave...or u set up the smpte wrong

Thanks Teacher

Thanks for the input, since using sonar as the master is not an option, I'll have to tripple check my SMPTE setup. I am using 24 frame encoding. Does any one have any pointers to any usefull sonar tweaks that may help?
