Hi All: I sometimes get self concious about posting so many songs. The norm is you release a cd or in rare instances, 2 a year. It is amazing how strong the rules are in our society. We artists like to claim we are exempt, but the music rules are as set in stone as stop signs and taxes. I record so many songs because they have to come out. As long as inspiration calls my name I will continue. But to keep posting them is more unsettling than recording them. Sometimes I realize I am bucking a huge rule in our world with I do and like I said, I do it cause I have to, not to make a statement or anything. Like I said, making the music is easy. Anyway, here are 4 from this afternoon. Walter

There's little that we can do about the force that pushes the songs out from inside us.

There is a norm of one or maybe two CDs a year . . . but it is a norm, not a rule.

There is nothing to prevent you from releasing as much as you want . . . except perhaps the consequences of over-exposure . . . a bit like saturating the market.

Every time someone posts some lyrics here, I can nearly always find something I've done along similar lines, and I immediately feel the urge to post it. I have to make a conscious effort to resist this urge.

There are a couple of reasons for this:
1 If someone posts something, it is their thread and they who are seeking comments; and
2 My desire to post does not equate to a desire on someone else's part to listen.

I'm pretty new here so I am not familiar with your music. But after listening to the four tracks you posted and a few others beside, I can't believe that you feel the need to apologise for creating such excellent music.

You have a rare gift my friend...keep doing what you do. Music is the most satisfying of all pleasures.

It's a 'big thumbs up' here from rainy old England. ;)

Mart.

Thanks for the replies! I will never stop recording or posting until the inspiration dies, and who knows when that will happen. Learning to make decent sounding recordings has been a big motivator. The home studio phenomenom is something. I never dreamed such a thing could be when I started out playing professionally in the 70's. Walter

gecko zzed: I have been oversaturating the market for 5 years since I started learning to record. I have no concerns about that. I don't do this for a living anymore. That is a gift unto itself. Now it is a pick and choose world of gigs and playing.

Mart: Thanks for those supportive words. I guess when you do something different, the mind will creep in and challenge to soul to get "right" on occasion. What I do rattles some folks cages and they let me know about it. I am pretty good at ignoring this, but sometimes it sticks with me. The other day was one of them.

Walter,
Don't worry - you're in an enviable position of having the songs to sing & the wit to record them.
I listen almost always to your posts as I like your style and you also put some of your social awareness into the lyric.
Keep doing what you do.

You are a talented guy Walt and I love your stuff. Keep posting!

I may be coming to the U.S. in the next year or two when Nashville picks up on some of the great Country songs I'm writing (;)); and if I do come over, I'll be wanting to come round to your house for a cup of tea!

Frankie xxx:)

Hi Frankie: Ohio is just a jump from Nashville. We even have room to park the big bus you will be owning after selling those songs! Walter

hi rayc: Thanks for that support! I am off for the summer as of next Thursday. My production tends to go way high in the summer months. Walter
