IMO, mixmkr turns out the best mixes on this board.

I was listening and it all became so clear to me. some reasons why I think his mixes are so grown up.

Just in case you have not heard it, listen to spanish nightshere:
http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/?aid=1322/album43.shtml

Stereo image: when his soundstage forms in the mind, the instruments are playing like they would be on an actual stage. One instrument is not panned so hard that it sounds like its playing on an entirely different stage from the rest of the music. Also his use of the same reverb adds to the vision of everything coming from the same room. THe mix also does a great job of putting us in the best seat in the auditorium.

Balance: Everything seems to play as a coherent unit. Nothing is asserting itself or demanding to be a solo instrument in a group. Everything has balance and respect for the other instrument. Everything also sounds natural. No unnatural boosting of one particular frequency in any instrument.

Ambience: Mixmkr is notorious for not being afraid to use that reverb. He also chose a nice room. SOunds like a nice concert hall that I would pay $100 to hear a great musician in. Does not sound like a living room or a bedroom( that gives an amateur image)

As I said, IMO.

Mixmkr, you funk.

Funk on!

I pretty much agree, don't think he's necessarily the most talented, or on his way to the most success, but he does put up some really solid "real" sounding mixes.

I would agree that mixmkr's music sounds excellent..

*I* would not stretch it by saying the best, but amongst them..

I dont think people are "afraid" to use reverb.. I just think it's too much sometimes.. especially on this song.. The reverb on the drums makes it sound like there is noise, or hiss IMOP..

I do think that people can learn a lot from him though, and vice versa.

I have learned things from him already and hopefully will continue to do so.............. Even if I think he used too much verb on the drums for this song..

you da man mix!:D

One more thing

One of the reasons why I think this clinic is so great, is directly the result of mixmkr being here..

Agree with that last one specially B SABB...err...Sami...I mean....I gotta get me an alter-ego too. Seriously though, he does respond to everyones tunes with generally thoughtful, in depth ideas, which is great.

Yup, pretty much a joke:)

Yep. Mixmkr's ones are very professional. The reverbs I have in my disposal are very weak, and I'd like to know some killer reverbs. I wouldn't use them as much as he does, but anyway :) Boy, this ass-kissing is fun!

I dig mixmkr both for his music and for his comments. He has a knack for making things sound good. Of course, I am addicted to reverb, so that may be why I like him:D

Actually, this forum has had an effect (pun intended) on my verb addiction. Lately, I am scaling it back to the point where you don't really hear it, even if its there. In my youth, record producers put reverb on everything--maybe because it was the only effect they had. Now I'm seeing that there are other approaches. If I could only kick the ciggs...

No. 1

Ha ha! Well if we're talking about # 1 hits, I've got it in the comedy catagory (The Tigers)! Now that is a stretch! LOL

I enjoy listening to Mix's stuff! He always makes his tunes interesting and his mixes are very professional sounding so they hold your attention, and he has great fade outs on his mixes!

aw shucks...

Alesis wedge...$100 on Ebay...my fave.. I've got three of them...plus a bunch other 'lousy' hardware verbs that I've collected over the years. My Lexicon mpx 100 broke after about 10 hours of use...but I never really liked it much anyway. You couldn't adjust anything.
All the software reverbs (of which I have most of) all are about pretty much the same to me.

cyan...your something else...thanks;)
