Something to reduce sympathetic vibrations from a piano?

Hi all,

I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas to reduce sympathetic vibrations from a piano in a small yet fairly well treated room. I was simply clapping in the room to get a sense of it, and the piano would sort of ring.

My idea was to record some drum and vocal tracks in this room, and a ringing piano will very likely get picked up in the process, especially at the volume the drummer tends to play. I'm wondering if there is something (inexpensive) to cover the piano with, as we'd rather not move it if we have the option.

Any ideas?

Put some heavy blankets over the piano.

Bout the best I've got.

Presuming that you've already done the obvious thing and closed the piano I would suggest putting some thing like a blanket INSIDE the piano lying on the strings

That's what I do.

Great ideas--that's what I was hoping would do the trick. Blankets. :)
I'd never have thought of putting anything inside it. :)

I've never owned a grand piano, so I was very reluctant to suggest damping the inside.

Nice to know it can be done.

I actually forgot to mention, this is an upright piano. Nevertheless, I'm sure the blanket suggestion will work. It's only the higher notes (that don't have dampers) that make noise, and those are close enough to the top to dampen.
