Something a little different....

Melodyne touts it can do chords. Not sure how good it works and then add on the fact that the audio from a guitar track might have distortion; that might make it more difficult. Maybe they have a demo you can try....

Well, they're both clean tracks at least. I might see if they have a free demo or something. I don't want to buy it since I'd never use it, except for a case like this, which I'll make sure never happens again.

If anyone has Melodyne and would be willing to give it a shot, I can send them the tracks. The part that needs tuning is the same 2 chords repeating for both tracks, so hopefully it wouldn't be a long process.

Not anything to add. Just wanted to say that I like it dude. Good lord your snare, bass and kick relation are absolutely awesome dude.

Wouldn't the manual tuner in ReaTune be able to fix the problem ?

I'll try it and find out. But, I'm trying to tune notes in a chord, not just separate notes, so I'm not sure if there are many tuners that can do it.

I like how the bass follows the guitar as a melodic harmony at the end of each phrase.

This is a great song. Drums are great, guitar melodies are perfect. The backwards sounds being backfed sound perfect.

Acoustic guitars would add some shimmer, but the song is working just fine on its own.

The bell at 4:00 is a nice touch. The end of the song is a nice suprise - well done.

Strong work, Rami.

I'm the epitome of laziness and even I'll admit sometimes it's easier to retrack than try to fix it with plugs.

Melodyne DNA is what you would need. I'm not sure the trial of Editor includes it yet.
Yeah, you're right. Couldn't find a free trial. Even finding it is vague. I don't think it's called "Melodyne DNA". They just talk about Melodyne with DNA, but I'm not sure if DNA is something you can add on to Melodyne or what.

Thanx a lot, C. Much appreciated coming from you.

Yeah, you may be right. It's just 2 chords all the way through that part. I might just re-do it. :)

Just a little update. :)

I asked a freind to do a 12-string track for me. I replaced the clean guitar track with it. A 12-string, or at least an acoustic, is what I initially wanted for this tune, so I'm really glad I was able to get one in there.

It's the first time I mix a 12-string so any help on what you might hear would be much appreciated. I cut a lot of lows because it sounded too dark to me. But that could just be because I was used to the twangier sound of an electric in that part. So let me know if I cut too much lows and if it might need to be compressed or anything. All I did was EQ it and add some reverb to it.

Thanx.

THE STORM

First time I ever bump one of my own threads. I actually hate it when people do it.

But, I didn't want to start a new thread just to get opinions on how the 12-string guitar sounds.

I realize I already got 5 pages out of this thread, so if it dies now, I still got a lot of help.

But that 12-string almost makes it a whole new tune.

I'm not liking the 12-string. I liked it better the original way. It sounds boxy. Also, it sounds out of tune. The little note progression from like 1:07 to 1:10 is really off. The little build up before the choruses sounds out of tune as well. I don't know. I liked it better before the 12-string. Sorry bro.

amazing how clear this can sound even on my tiny netbook speakers...and I bet that wasnt one of your mix translation checks?? :D

got nothing on the mix mate just that it sounds pro, radio friendly, und so weiter

i tried to tune a guitar the other day without my electronic tuner and couldnt lol, man I think Ive got enough earwax to seal my pool when I get home!

FUCK! You see, that's why I bumped the thread.

I did think it sounded box-y too. But I was hoping it was only because I got too used to the twang of the electric. I was waiting to get used to the sound of the acoustic.

Still out of tune, huh? The thing is, the 12-string is only strumming 2 chords in the verses. Any climbs or lines other than that were already there in the original version, like the 1:07-1:10 part.

I'm going to re-track the 2 chords in the verses and make sure I'm in tune when I do it.

Thanx man.

Thanx KC. That guitar part is pissing me off, though.

I didn't notice anything out of tune on my initial listens a few days ago, but I admit I wasn't focused on the guitars like I was this time. There's definitely some out of tune stuff going on. As for the 12-string, me personally, I'm not a fan of them in general. They have a "signature" sound though that I think is missing here. When I think 12-string, I think of a big but sparkly full acoustic sound. This one kind of sounds almost like a dobro 12-string. Like it doesn't have enough soundhole or body sound. It's like if someone mic'd an electric guitar that wasn't plugged in. You know what I mean? It has that thin kind of sound. I'd say re-track your original electrics, and scrap the 12-string. Just my 2 cents homeslice. :)

That's cool, dude.

I was more than happy with my original tracks, until a few people pointed out that some of the tracks were out of tune. So, I'll just re-track with my original sound and make sure it's in tune.

Thanx man.

Yeah man, just re-do what you did at first with better tuning and/or intonation on the guitar. If certain chords ring in tune and others don't, you're gonna need to give it a good set-up. If you haven't done it, they're easy.

Cool Greg, thanx.

I'm pretty sure the intonation on the guitar is good. I checked it with a tuner, checking out the harmonics and different notes on different frets, etc. I'm pretty sure it's the way I played the A chord, trying to get all 6 notes to ring out.

I'll re-track, it will only take about 2 minutes.

Thanx again.
