I've decided to go ahead and order the Marshall 2001 and a buddy is gonna do the Royer mod on it, and I want to find someplace that has the "recording pac", you know, with the 2001 and the free mxl-603. I found the pac at 8th street, but it was $189. I found the 2001 by itself at Musicians friend for $159. I want to find the recording pac for $159, too, since the 603 IS "free". Then, with the cost of the mod and everything, I'll be out less than $250 for a Royer tube modded 2001 and an MXL 603. I'll probably order another 603 with the order for a pair, so actually about, what? $320, for 2 603's and a Royer mod 2001. Can't beat that, I would say. Anyone know who has the combo pack the cheapest?

I totally screwed up the mod prices in my head... the mod kit is actually $160, and the Jensen transformer is $66... I went and looked a bit ago.
8th street offered me the MXL package for $165 with free shipping... sounds like a deal to me. I'm there.

but frankly I think shelling out another $20 to ShreveAudio and picking up a MXL603S too is worth it.
