I don't get L.P.s myself, but I can see why a lot of people do. I have a self-imposed £500 limit on what I'm prepared to pay for an instrument, so that pretty much rules out all Gibsons, especially L.P.s
I can agree with three things
- they are over priced
- they have a crappy heel thing
- they weigh a lot
Clarifying that
- how much does any other (serious) hobby cost
- I can't play worth beans above the 15th fret anyway
- I don't gig anymore so I don't play long enough standing for it to matter
My Les Paul weighs exactly 11 pounds. I've weighed it numerous times on different scales. I think most LPs fall in the 9-10 pound range maybe? So mine's relatively heavy. I play standing all the time and I never notice it's weight. Maybe I'm just used to it. Maybe I'm a powerful perfect physical specimen of a man. Maybe wearing it low keeps it near my center of gravity. I have no idea. It just doesn't bother me. It feels awesome all the way around. I play my other guitars a lot too, but when I strap the Lez back on, I'm reminded over and over again what a sweet pass of ass that thing really is.
