Sorry...this might be lame question...

I am using SONAR and a ROLAND JV1010 to compose music. I am thinking of getting a Karma or a Korg or something. I compose Symphonic Rock..lots of guitars and strings...

Will getting a Karma or Korg synth workstation benefit me? Is it better than using SONAR to compose? Are there any other benefits?

THanks for any inout :D

I'll start off by saying "I do want a Karma".
Karma = (triton - sampler) + Karma engine x 4.
Both of them have sequencers. Therefore if you're referring to midi composition, yes you would have the added benefit of an onboard sequencer. But you can do that now with sonar, right?
Yes, it would give you a shit load of sounds (either), the triton would give you a sampler, and the Karma has it's own unique "help you play/play along" "Karma engine" feature. Yes either one would benefit you. It's just not so much of a question of instead of sonar, but with sonar. What do you use as a controller for the jv1010? Do you have an upgrade rom with it? That would be your most readily available "cheaper" option.

Either one of those in conjunction with the jv1010 and sonar or any other multi tracking/midi/composition program will give you a tremendous amount of musical capability.
