Software: recording vs. midi/sequencing

1) I take it that there are standalone sequencing programmes which don't do recording, or don't do it well, right?
2) So, I take it that some/most major DAW softwares allow the import of midi from other programmes?
3) If the answer above is YES, are there DAW softwares which DON'T allow the import of midi from other programmes?
4) IF you are importing midi from another programme, do you still edit the midi [to some degree] in your host software?

1) Yes
2) Yes
3) Not sure, I think most do
4) If I import MIDI into cubase I do the editing in Cubase, I understand that some DAW's are less than optimal for MIDI editing so you may want to use some other program.
