There was a buzz about Karma mics a month or two ago, since the "we own the factory".....ah mistake??? What is happening along the Karma front? Anyone else buying thier mics? Is there any place that you can buy their mics? lol Besides straight from them?

Well I just received Karma's K6 Ribbon Mic to do a review on but it won't be done for a couple of weeks. It will compete with SE's R-1 Ribbon mic among others. I'll post a link when the ribbon shoot out is done. :)

Does anyone haveany feedback on the Karma ribbon? I am looking at buying one for under 500 bucks, and honestly, the Nady mics get decent reviews, but I am still hesitant. Just curious if there is anyone using this guy!

If you are concerned, you can typically get a Beyer for under $500. I recollect that the price on a new M160 from Full Compass is something like $425. You have to call and ask for the price. They used to sell it for that through Amazon, but now only have the MAP on the web.

...rather than "re-hash" what's already been said, feel free to read my comments on the following archived threads:

I love my Karma mics-- I have two K-6's, a K-58 multipattern tube, and just got a K-35 multipattern FET yesterday. I think they lost some momentum because they ran out of stock of basically all of the mics they carried and from their website and newsletter, it sounded like a shipment got stuck in customs. That happened right after they got a very positive review on the K-35 in TapeOp, and there was some buzz, but nobody could buy any.
The K-6's are great phantom powered ribbons that I use on acoustic and electric guitars and vocals (haven't tried drums, which is the reason I bought two), and the K-58 sounds great on vocals and acoustic guitar. I swapped out the stock 12ax7 for a 6072a tube on the advice of kidvybes and ljmaxx and it improved the sound significantly. I haven't gotten a chance to test out the K-35 yet, other than to make sure it worked.
