Actually, the Cd was here before I knew it man, I was impressed. I did need to listen to it on both the Big-Ass stereo, and in the car (pickup). Dude, kicks-ass.....Nuff said..... :D
 
Great job RAMI - that rocked!

I really like the overall sound (mix?) you are getting - it's really smooth. You mentioned recently you were using WAVELAB and the L1 for your final mixdown - is L1 a compressor? Is Wavelab fairly intuitive? I'm using Sound Forge Studio 6 right now. It is very basic and I'm looking to move up to something else later on.

BTW - Alice Cooper was here a couple nights ago and I heard he put on a great show. Unfortunately I couldn't make it - just caught the highlights on TV.

PS - I didn't know Alice was a girl. She really needs a shave.

Dude, you figure out all the guitar parts that fast. Just like that, 'coz you were thinking about it? Well, you're a good guitarist! I can't do that that fast.

I usually take some time. Plus I just can't figure out a song exactly how the band does it. I just don't have the patience. I have to just figure out the chord progression and then just have fun with it and not worry about playing "right". It makes me miss out on learning a lot of good playing tricks. :)

Nice job on the song. I like it. I was never a cooper fan. He just looked too weird. And he was also around wrestling for a while at least with some guy named "Jake the snake" back when those guys used to wrestle and back when they didn't so openly turn it into a soap opera.

But I like the singing and the playin'. Keep rocking! :)
 
Applejax, thanx alot...It is a great song to cover. I found all the parts were interesting to play, especially the bass part. Dennis Dunaway is a very under-rated bass player and even before I was really able to appreciate his musicianship, I found myself singing along to his bass parts as a kid. Thanx for the comments.

Ido, I don't know Wavelab inside out, but found that I was able to learn it's basic functions pretty easily. It has some great features. There's a thread in the "Mixing/Mastering" forum called "Wavelab is a dissappointment" or something like that, which discusses a few different opinions on Wavelab, SOundforge and others.

Bigbubba, I was also surprised at how easily I picked up the parts on this, but it is a pretty simple chord progression. The hardest part, besides the vocals which I'm going to re-do, was figuring out what to do in the middle break because the original has horns and a wah-wah-solo, etc...I sort of combined a bit of everything and made it a bit more raw.

Actually I saw Alice Cooper first on the wrestling scene and didn't realize that Alice was a girl's name until later when I read Alice in Wonderland.
 
When I was five, my dad turned me on to Alice & I couldn't have been happier. In fact, I taught myself how to play guitar years later by jamming to "Billion Dollar Babies" & "Killer".

I used to have the 1974 calendar that came with "Killer" hanging on my bedroom wall. Apparently, mom didn't think a picture of alice hanging from a noose was appropriate for a ten year old.

I really dig your songs, RAMI. I am impressed as usual.

Can I request 'Ballad of Dwight Fry' for the next one???

The best thing about her (besides her voice) is that she is eye candy.... ;)

I want to put in my request too:

Deep Purple - Smoke On The Water, but all acoustic. My last band tried it on stage, and it can be really cool if you play the full chords instead of power chords on the intro. I'd do it myself, but I am at least 6 months from being near my gear.


Anyone wanna try it?

Yeah, about that: Burger King ruined Smoke On The Water for me. Come to think of it a lot of cheap worthless corporations with absolutely nasty products have ruined a lot of good songs.

I've just been learning Redneck Woman and Homewrecker lately. Just been playing along the mp3s. It's a lot of fun. Both songs seem to be played with a capo on the 2nd fret. What the heck. It's country music not rock and roll.

Yeah, it was off of the purpendicular album. Here's the amazon link for the album. I've never really heard of any other songs on this album being talked about.

Deep purple remains one of those bands that had a select few songs that I liked, otherwise I wasn't much into their stuff.

This link only plays the slow part of the song, but later on the song builds some pretty flashy and pretty cool solos. All this while, I never feel like the song is dragging or the solo is too long. If anything I wanted a longer solo on this song. It's just pretty cool.

Although, these days any song with a solo reminds of the movie "School of Rock" where the band kicks the loser out because of his "8 minutes solos". :)

But if you don't like this song, you can cover Firecracker by Lisa Loeb. :p.

Yes, you're right. Never heard of it. As far as I'm concerned, there is no Deep Purple without Ritchie Blackmore. It still might be good, but it ain't Deep Purple to me. This must be a later album, probably with Steve Morse, who is great too, on guitar. But by this time, I lost interest.

I understand. I personally never got attached to band members. Actually I didn't ever think of band members as the band. I always thought of the singer as "the band". So when Journey gets rid of one Steve and brings in another Steve who is 20 years younger, I only care long enough to find out that the new Steve sounds "exactly" the same as the old Steve. Now? Now, I don't even really listen to Journey. But Remember Me still is a good catchy pop-rock tune.

I did break this rule a little bit when I did care that Slash was in GnR and no one else dare play a solo on a GnR song, and I always liked Bon Jovi's lead guitarist. Can't even remember his name.
 
Richie Sambora, who I personally think has a better voice. But Mr. Jovi has better hair. :p

There's the one! I saw them recently on TV playing the Toyota something show.

I like how they're still playing. I was reading an article once that Bon Jovi himself was quite the businessman and helped the band and himself to stay on top of their money stuff. Plus I understand he has a house in Jersey and is not broke. I know Axl also has an "estate". I don't know about Slash, tho. I wonder if he blew all his money buying all those crazy hats.
 
My request for some Deep Purple

Ok my requests for RAMI to play:

1) Burn by Deep Purple
2a) Might Just Take Your Life by Deep Purple
2) Anything by Alice Cooper
3) How about a Drum Solo or a song with a long drum solo in it?
