so i guess this is the order

i suppose this is the order i will buy my gear according to the tremendous feedback that i get on this site:

first buy the M-Audio Audiophile 2496
then some monitors im not sure which ones yet
then the M-audio TAMPA pre


does that sound like good order or no
 
Sure...

but what are you going to record after you spend that lump 'o money?
 
I would go with the delta 44 by m-audio, you can record 4 tracks at once instead of just 2. You won't outgrow it right away.
 
doesnt sound as good. And at that price, why not get a Delta 1010lt?
 
cause i already own the lexicon...haha........that sucks i wish i would of known that sooner

So that you can, for example, record a small drumset. 1 mic on the kick, one on the snare, and 2 overheads. With 4 inputs, you can keep all these mics on separate tracks so you are not stuck with the submix you made when you laid the drums down.
 
works great for things like headphone mixes. You can pick and choose which tracks you want to send to which headphones.
