snare micing

any ideas on the best mics for snares?

i read journals of one of my favorite producers and hes hooked on SM57's for snares. what are your thoughts?

57's are cool. I really like an AKG C-1000 on snare too. A Sennheiser MD-441 is a dandy as well.
