What is the smallest all tube, 2-channel, 1x12 Fender amp? I dont wanna blast the house down, small watts is fine, but I want foot switchable channels (clean and lead?) and 12 inch Fender tone without going solid state. New or used, doesn't matter to me as long as it's affordable. Thanks!

I've to a '66 Allen/Master Volume modded Bassman head that can do what you want. The Normal channel is modded to the AA-864 circuitry ala Blackface Vibrolux. The Bass channel is modded to a Tweed/Plexi circuitry. You can use a phase canceling A/B box to switch from clean to mean. Mine has been modded with the external bias points, and also to run 6L6's, EL-34's, and 6V6's. Here's some clips and some pics of the amp . The speaker is a specially made 4 ohm V-30. With the master volume on the crunch side, you can get some singing sustaining tones a bedroom levels. My local amp guru has one like this one in a Blonde head cab for $650. That's not bad for a Point to point hand wired amp with all these features.

Are there any sites that have some schematics on the mods that you had done? I'm wondering if an old Silvertone Twin 12 I've got might be a good candidate for something like this.

Arcaxis, I think all the mod for the Bassman are specifically for this particular amps. I don't think there are any schematics for this mod. David Allen of Allen amps used to do the Allen mod,but discontinued doing them to concentrate on building new amps. My local amp guru learned it by opening up my Allen modded Bassman. By the way David refers customers to my amp guy for the Allen mod. David and my amp guy talked about and both came up with the master volume mod.My amp guys is a long time Fender amp guy who does this part time and doesn't subscribe to any DIY amp sites. :)

I've got a Silvertone Twin Twelve but I prefer to leave it stock (I did install insulated speaker cable jacks in the cab and head so I didn't have to deal with the permanently attached cord).

Mods might run more than the amp is worth, and you'd be losing some history.

I'd buy a different amp, instead -- I still plug into my Sears on a regular basis to keep the caps from dying.

Yesterday I played my Fender Jazzmaster Ultralight at church, using my '95 Epiphone Sheraton II w SD pickups. The "Baptist Blues Band" consisted of me on slide (open D tuning), a guy playing my fretless Precision, another on a Guild F212, a drummer (hi-hat and snare) and a lady singer: we did an arrangement of Blind Willie Johnson's Nobody's Fault But Mine (need I say, we're pretty eclectic) and not only did we get an ovation (unheard of in church) but several people complimented me on my guitar tone.

This morning I've been playing with it and tweaking all the knobs and, folks, there ain't no bad sound in that JM. The Epi sounds better through it than through my other amps, and my Gibson LP, which sounds great through almost anything, kills through the Fender.

Damn, that's a good little amp! Can't wait for the tweed Blues Jr to get here so I can compare the two.
