I have opted to not purchase the SM7 at this time. Thanks for all the helpful advice. In regards to mic use, I have been lately using the SM57 for vocals, which ultimately works okay. Thanks to the suggestion I apply a little bit of compression in Garageband or Logic, which seems to help the situation somewhat. I never had great success using the AT2020 for vocals, as it pics up so much background noise. As I am utilizing an untreated room, large diaphragm condenser use is a bit difficult.
