So,

I just got a Shure SM58, and it functions without phantom power... which is really nice...

However, I was wondering what would happen if I wanted to use the SM58 in conjunction with a condenser microphone that used phantom power...

What happens if phantom power is turned on when the SM58 is plugged in? Is there any danger in damaging the microphone with extra current running through it?

No problem -- just be sure to turn phantom power off before connecting/disconnecting any of the mics....

thanks!

That's good to know.

I am a responsible microphone owner, and I make sure to turn off phantom power before plugging or unplugging mics..

Thanks again for the input.

mute

I think it would be a better idea to the the respected channel before unpluging the mic
