SM57s...

misinformed or inexperienced?

I have had over 25 years of very serious experience with Sm57s. they are the most road wrothy microphone made, without exception! They have excellent signal response and fantastic tone quality. they are very sweet for voices, and can handle just about any instrumental application you want to throw at them (within reason). I have used them for accoustics (guitars, pianos, horns and reed instruments) and vocals both in live concerts and in the recording studio. I have seen a pair of SM57s bounce down a 2 story set of concrete stairs, and be in use on stage within the hour, without a problem. A black felt marker covered the only scratch on the side of one, from a person trying to help by stepping on it at the bottom of the stairs.

And as for the sweat shop comment, not only are you wrong, you're being rude and slanderous.

lol, he is referring to the missive influx of Chinese made fake sm57's.

Yeah sm57's are kind of tough, but not all that tough. I've gone through a few windscreens over the years. They are a PITA to replace. An sm58 is very tough, even on the windscreen, and if the screen so happens to get ruined, a new one is easy to put on.

Bravo!!!!!!!

Once I saw an SM-57 fly down from the sky and save a runaway baby carriage. Yes, it's true............

The EV635a is tougher. But it's not as heavy, so less useful as a hammer. :D

Looks like you exposed another counterfeit operation. Shure must be on top of this again. Was the 'R' in 'Shure' higher than the other letters? That's a dead give-away that it's a fake.

Do a little research before you post.

I just tried the link again and it looks like they have been taken down. Good thing too, because I was very tempted to buy 6 SM57s for $150. I guess it was too good to be true though.

DEFINITELY A SCAM! I recently went through the whole buying fake sm57s online. I realized it was a scam right after i paid for them. He had hijacked another ebay account. I paid for them and ebay had taken it off line. I filed a claim only an hour or so after it happened. The fact that it said it was in Arkansas but it said the person was overseas was a dead give away. It is amazing how closely they really resemble the real thing. The mic clips even say "made by shure in mexico" which is where shure microphones are primarily made. The biggest give aways were the cheap sticker on the, the grill was slighter lighter in color, in the space between the plastic grill and the body the material didn't look anything like the real one, I had several of them out of phase, they caused major problems with phantom power, one didn't work, the wires and soldering on the inside were cheap, and the bag did not say mexico in it. To the general person who doesn't have much experience, these probably would have looked real. It came complete with warranty information, user manual, and every thing else that a real one would come with. Luckily I talked to someone at paypal and explained the whole situation. The next day I had my money back and free mics :) . I gave one to a shure representative and one to a buddy who is trying to record on a budget. They actually don't sound too bad when they do work, tried them on toms and snare. I ended up getting 10 GLS Audio ES-57's and I am very happy with them.

Why not just get some ES-57s? Heh. I don't have any SM57s anymore, but I've got two 58s, so all I need to do is take off the ball and I've got 57s. Why, though? I don't want them.

Thanks for not signing the neg rep, asshole. I don't give a crap about this whole rep system, but please, please have the courtesy to sign, whether it's green or red, kay? Thanks.
