nope, different mics. The frequency response for 57s is slightly wide and the frequency response is different. Also, when in doubt grab a 57, I really can't think of any time recently where I've thought "hmm, I wonder what a 58 would sound like on this..."

I have, but in context it was ''I can't find a 57...wonder if I can overcome that warm low mid-range bump in a 58...''

SM-58 are definitely less flat and more vocal friendly.
