I've got 2 sm57's that are broken, one doesn't work at all, and the other on the top came off and it doesn't sound quite right as well.

Can a private individual send a mic in to have it repaired, or do you have to go througha dealer.

I thought I heard some where that they would redo them for like 50 bucks.........

anyone have any info on this??

Thanks,
Rick

$55 US gets a wired mic fixed, that includes parts and the shipping back to you. You can go straight to Shure, they have the paperwork on their site under sales & service.

I don't know your skill level, but the broken one might be an easy fix, by you or a buddy. The two most likely things are a loose connection of one of the wires going to the XLR connector, or a shot diaphragm. The loose connection is easy, the diaphragm, not so much.

The biggest pain with those things is the plastic cover, a real bitch to deal with. I've never found a good trick to remove/replace them. I've destroyed more than one diaphragm dealing with those things.

It's up to you whether $55 + one-way shipping is worth it.

Well I didn't pay anything for these, so for 110 bucks plus shipping one way for a couple of "work horse" mics..........I'd say that's not to bad. ?? :)

Thanks,
Rick
