Flamingo!
Just came across this video. I usually use SDC's for flamenco/classical. The sound of his guitar is great! A little on the bassy side for flamenco, little more classical suited, but still sounds great. I'm going to try this and see the results I get. I guess the 57 really is a workhorse :D

Wow, that's actually a really good sound. A lot better than I was expecting!

If the guitar sounds good and sounds good in the room, then an SM57 can give a very good sound.

Just tried it. Sounds pretty good. I just tried a classical song though. I'll try it with a flamenco song later. I may just have to use this :D

This video (lipsynch) is on my 'everything' youtube channel - the mix is an early version of the song (been remixed multiple times since), but the acoustic was recorded with just an SM57.

Whatever works for you is ok. I prefer to use an SDC and an LDC in combo when recording any acoustic or classical guitars. An sm57 is ok, but not my favourite.

Dont put too much attention on the mic.

The mic was placed well in relation to the instrument, the room had no nasty echoes, the track has been compressed, a stereo reverb added and possibly EQed as well.

Also not forgetting it's a good guitar and guitarist and a famous classical guitar piece. All of this adds up to a feel good experience.

Again dont put too much store on the SM57. It's just one element in the production, one link in the chain.

That is true. But the mic still deserves recognition. I thought I got a pretty good sound from my first attempt. Even when using a SDC or LCD I still have to worry about placement and eq/reverb/compression etc.

Yes and other factors would be the lapel microphone, possibly a camera mounted microphone and possibly out of camera shot a boom microphone.

Wow, great sound. Actually im not surprised. Although sm57 is not my favorite mic for guitar cabs, I have tried it on classical guitar and recults have been very good. As others have said, guitar and room matter a lot, but I think the reason sm57 gives good results is that it captures the essential frequencies for the instrument. It may not have the detail or sense of space a condenser mic has, but captures the core of the guitar sound
