Can anyone tell me if there is a program or plug-in that would allow me to slow down a song that I recorded into cakewalk 6.0 without changing it's pitch so that I can analyze it.
Thanks, Peter.

What do you mean "analyze it". There are a lot of time stretch plugins that can speed up or slow down your audio, but they are not really intended for drastic measures. So if you where to stretch your audio by like 20% it would sound really, really bad. I use Sonic Foundry's time stretch/compress plug and, depending on the type of audio, I here funny things starting to happen at 3-5% strech or compress.

Eclips 1 Thanks for your reply so quickly.
What I mean by "analyze" is": to take a solo and get the notes he is playing. Do you understand what I mean now?
It would have to be slowed down quite a bit to analyze it especially if there are alot of sixtheenth notes. And like I said the pitch should not change either.
The point is not to have this piece of music (solo) fit into a certain measure or beat, just slow it down to copy it and learn from it.
So that's what the plug-in or program would have to do.
Thanks, Peter.

Sound Forge can do that.. and there's a real-time plugin for WinAmp that can do it, too. Go to winamp.com and look for "pacemaker tempo controller".

Wow

Isaiah: Thank you for telling me about "Pacemaker". It sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. I just went to Winamp.com and downloaded it. I'll let you know how it worked out.
Thanks again to all who responed to my request.

Hey Pete,
I saw a software in Musician's Friend catalog last week that slows a sample to 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 speed without pitch change for deciphering the notes. That's pretty slick because I don't think the multi effects rig I want has that as a built in. Check their web site at Musiciansfriend.com.
Good luck

Hey Getuhgrip:

Thanks for your reply. I'll check out musiciansfriend but I already downloaded a plugin from Winamp.com that Isaiah told me about and it's free. You should check it out. It's called "Pacemaker"

Thanks again,
Peter.

My wife likes it already!

Yeah, my wife likes all that free stuff! I'm downloading it now. :D

Cool Edit has a great fast-working option to slow down without changing pitch, much more trustable/ better. The only thing is than you can't change it 'live', but that wasn't most important, was it?

Cool Edit?

F_cksia:
Thanks for getting back to me....but what is Cool Edit and what do you mean changing it "live"?

Thanks again
Peter.

Is there a program that will slow down my wife as well as her pitch?

well...

Cool Edit is a .wav editor for pc, running under Windows.
It's very stable and fast-working with a lot of possibilities.
From my point of view it's the best audio-program around.
Some people won't like this, but I'll tell you how to get the registered version for free.

Surf to http://www.syntrillium.com and download the demo-version of Cool Edit 2000.
Then, go to http://www.astalavista.com and download the crack-program to change your demo-version to a fully-working one.

With that Winamp-plugin called Pacemaker you can slow down without changing pitch, while you're listening to the song. You can set the sliders and almost on the same time you change the tempo.
With Cool Edit, you can set how much slower you want to have your song, and it changes the whole speed (without changing pitch), but not directly when listening to it.

I hope this is a bit clear, my English is not so good.

Greetings,
Maarten.

hey hix..

My wife was a test vehicle for the Prozaval Program. I don't think anything is as effective as bluntobjectopan, but one must operate within the bounds of protocol. :D

Viagra

Hey hixmix
I don't think there is program that will slow down your wife but, maybe you should try Viagra. Maybe that will speed you up and therefore balance out the situation between you and your wife.

Don't Understand?

F_cksia:

I downloaded the demo version of Cool Edit like you suggested. Then I went to Astalavista and I don't understand what crack-program I should download. Can you please be more specific?
You're gonna have to draw me a map. These kind of things don't come easy to me.
Thanks, Peter.

Here you are

I searched the web for you with astalavista, and here are the results:

Try a crack for Cool Edit 2000.
Download this program, unzip it in your Cool Edit 2K folder, and run the .exe file. You'll have to enter a password and a username. A valid name and password can be found in the text file in the zip file. Enter these, and you have registered your demo, if it's working well.

Maarten.

Peter,

If it's not obvious from context, a crack is stealing the software -- it's defeating (cracking) the 30-day-time out or partial feature crippling of the demo software. People sit around and figure these out and make them available because they think all this stuff should be free.
