Slash also uses a Roland JC-120. He has a voice box, a couple of wah-wah's and sometimes adds some delay through the mixing console.
To get that tone, you'll need an LP type guitar. Use a metal-type distortion and boost the high just below feedback levels. Use the bridge pickup and, play as loud as your neighbors will allow.

I believe Slash uses those old hard to find marshall silver jubilee 100watt heads, & to goose the input he used a boss ge7 eq, the little 7 band boss graphic eq stomp pedal.
That + some kind of wah pedal , most likely a vox or dunlop.
