slapback echo problem

Keep in mind, I've been doing this all year with no problems. I run a guitar through a plugin like Amplitube. Set the track I/O. Hit the echo button. Alls been fine, all of a sudden I get echo. Turn it off and I get no plugin. Again, never before. Thought it was an Amplitube thing, but did same for other plug-ins like reverb.
Than thought Maybe Echo buttons is only for midi, But always made amplitube work before. Without it theres no plugin.

So I try to lower buffer, (now at 11.6) and I get a nasty echoing buzzing sound. Turns out I get that at evey buffer setting but 11.6. I must of hit a button somewhere because this method always worked. Also. This doesn't happen when using midi. No delays.

ps. Manual says there should be three Echo Button settings. Off-dimmed and on. For some reason mine is off or on?!?!

any help pleeeese.

Don't really understand the problem you're describing, but I wanted to tell you that I was also confused a while back when my Echo button offered only 2 modes (on/off). I believe I had to go into the Options-Global to specify that I wanted to use it as a tri-state button. Light on details - sorry - not at my DAW.

Under Options/Global, what do you check to do that. I'm not seeing it. Thanks

To try and explain better, if I set up audio track for guitar, all sounds correct. When I add any plugin like chorus or reverb or amplitube guitar software, I get a slapback delay like you would on a delay box. Turn them off and the delay is gone. Never happened before. Don't think its a buffer issue becuase delay stops when I turn off plugins. Not sure what changed. Been working good for a while. Doesnt happen when using midi stuff???
