I have recorded six tracks, and I want to take 30 seconds of each track and make them into one single track, where each 30 second clip fades inand out from the next track. its more to showcase each individual track in the single track. My question is how do I do this? And do I need to remix the the single track again so the volume levels etc are the consistent throughout, or is this where the mastering will take care of off?

I would just export each song or section of each song individually. Then import them all into a new project and edit from there.

So do you mean in Cubase, open up new project and add audio track and then export each track into the audio track of the new project and then edit each 30 second clip into a single track by gluing them together?

Or create 6 new tracks. Import one song into each. Edit out parts in each song you dont want. Then move the parts where you want them to start and export that mixdown. This way your not messing with the original files. That's what I would do. :)

That way you can fade in/out or overlap a bit without sounding choppy.

Whats the best way to do this, I mean should I mix (add compression if needed) to each track before importing into new project and then once I have edited them together then do another mix and them master the final track? Or import them into new project and after they've bene edited add the compression etc and master?

Yes. lol. Well I would say treat the songs as final mixes first from original project. Export each. Then do your modifications in another project so your not messing with your originals. You can then adjust levels of each to be consistent in the new file. Are you using Cubase? If so what version?

Nothing in LE to make export easier. Just get your tracks sounding like you want em. Get master level near 0 but never ever clip. Export audio files (wav 32 bit float). Import into another project a do what you need to there. I'm not sure whether LE4 has any mastering limiter/Dither plugin, but that's a whole other thing.

Hope this helped.

mix down all your tracks to stereo, open them in cubase and cut out 30second you want plus 3 secs each side for fades, put them end to end with a little spacing, press the R and W buttons, open your automation and edit your fades there. add a touch of compression and eq to the whole track and bobs your uncle

Ok man. I think this is kinda what you are trying to do. Yes this is Cubase 6, but I dont have LE installed anymore. I don't remember if LE has a limiter or not. A compressor could be used as well.
