StevenLindsey said:Which is fairly ridiculous. Why couldn't someone develop a good small board somewhere along the line of the Soundcraft M series, with preamps in the Sytek or RNP quality range? Add about 250 bucks an amp to the cost. Something like the M4 with 4 RNP pres for about $1500. I'd have already bought one.
sjoko2 said:Perhaps because if someone developed a board like a soundcraft M series consisting of class A components, with good preamps, you can kiss firmly goodbye to your 1500 bucks on components alone. Then there is another question........... who considers Sytec preamps quality?
Same goes for the Manley stuff.......... I have yet to hear anything they make that I like.
StevenLindsey said:Bull... You can't tell me that it's not possible to solder an RNP in and out in the same path that the dinky amps are already in.
Several people in here apparently think the Syteks are good. Quite a few professional studios have them in the rack. I've yet to hear ( read ) anything bad about them. Maybe you know something no one else knows. I suppose that's possible. Not probable but possible.

I don't know why someone hasn't done it. But can it be done? Of course it can. If you can make a RNP channel for $238.00 and a 4 channel mixer for $500-600, then you can certainly use a few cents worth of solder to stick those amps in there. That ain't rocket science.

certainly makes you wonder why, of all the gear manufacturers on the planet, nobody has done exactly that - doesn't it?![]()
