what software doyou recommend for the us122? i am thinking about buying a used 122 that doesnt come with cubase, but looking at buying the software separately its waaay out of my limits. i want a fairly basic program that allows me to maximize the 122...what do you suggest? thanks for your time
i appreciate it...

I use the 122 and the Cubase LE that came with it. I happen to have the luxury however of having a lot of WAVE plug-ins that I use in the final mixdown. (so far that's all I use them for, but that's because I'm an old dog and it's hard to learn new tricks) It works well for me. I will say that before you go out and buy production software, check out this website: http://www.genesis-technologies.com/

When you go to the Music production section you'll see great prices. Some of their products are for students or schools only, but a heck of a lot of them are sold without restriction. You'll probably save a lot of money.

I bought the US-122 in the days before it came with Cubase LE (mine came with Cubasis VST). Cubasis was terribly limited in its functionality and I quickly upgraded to Cubase SE (~$100), which is a very solid and powerful entry level program. If you are looking for something cheaper, try N-track ($50), Audacity (free), Kristal (free), or Reaper (opensource/free). I hear Reaper is really the one to beat of the freebies, though I haven't had a chance to test it out myself.
