I have a project thats over a gig in space. I want to save and burn to CD but its too big. Do I need to split it up and export? Use DVD maybe, or any other options. thanks

the best way is to save on dvd. Save as project file and burn to dvd. Or, if you have an external hard drive save it there.I do both just to be safe

Nothing says you can't split the files on to two or more cd's.

What I dont like about splitting is having to keep track of 2 cd's, the risk that 1 may be corupt, it does happen. With DVD all is on 1 disc, 4.7 gig or dual layer at 8.5 gig. Larger DVD formats are coming soon. Store 3 or 4 songs on 1 DVD, very cost effective.

Albertm, have you tried compressing the project using Winzip or WinRAR? WinRAR specifically has a decent audio compression algorithm.

Depending on the source material (WAV files with silent sections compress really well,) you might get the size under 700Mb.

Id opt for an external hard drive. They're really not that expensive now for a huge amount of space. You can update to your hearts content and only have to worry about running out of space. I saw a Terabyte external drive in a photography magazine for a bit over $500.

WinRar has the option to archive and split the files over as many CDs as necessary but in this day and age DVD is the way to go.
