Hiya, long-time lurker, first time register and poster. I wanted to run a simple marketing idea past everyone to see what they think.
I have a respectable basic setup (Digi 001 with compressor, Pro Tools LE, 2 tube preamps, EQ, patchbay and 2 SM57s and a R0DE NT1-A) and a bedroom space with a snake that reaches into the next room. Additionally, I own a Primera 50 CD burner and inkjet CD printer. I was thinking about marketing $10-$15 an hour recording to singer/songwriters and college music majors for demos.
Does anyone think there is a market for this service? I live in a major city so population density is on my side and there are larger studios but none as cheap as I would be. I wouldn't pretend to be competing with them, but I think that my setup (32 tracks of Pro Tools goodness) coupled with the decent preamps, the Rode and my own experience I could offer something a little extra.
