Correct me if I'm wrong here, but what you're saying is that yes, there's a difference in siblance and proximity, but not really enough to be noticable by the untrained ear ...

I'm saying neither of them are sibilant mics, nor is either going to give you much proximity effect.

... and judging by your last response, that you can't really thing of any better alternatives than these two.

I'm saying they're two very obvious choices.

Just to confuse the matter more

Well, since you've mentioned a desire for low sibilance and a "classic rock" sound, have you considered omnidirectional dynamic mics? Omnidirectional mics help control sibilance, too. One good example would be the Electrovoice 635. (At least, I think that's the right model number - somebody please correct me if I'm wrong on that.)
