Shure SM 7B (repair question)

Ok I have a chance to buy a used SM7 for dirt cheap. Problem is, the xlr connector on the mic is disconnected (wires are broken of the connector) will repairing this (re soldering) mess with the quality of mic?

Yeah that wire is the Achilles heel of the SM7. Mine is not long for this world either. I haven't investigated repair, but it seems like a pretty straightforward cable replacement, shouldn't affect quality.
