Has anyone used this mic before and what do ya think about it, I'm thinking about getting one and need some user feedback. Anybody use it with a Tascam 424MKIII, any and all info welcome & appreciated!!!!

Why not just get the real thing? It really doesn't cost much more.

I agree w/ scissor. Pay an extra $30 for the SM57 and get a mic much better. better frequency response, probably more rugged. Just take our word for it, pay the $30 and you'll be happier, plus you'll have that mic over 10 years.

I just got a pg57 from musicians friend and it doesn't work at all. I have tried it through and amp and through a mixer, and nothing. I hope the next one they send works. I wonder if the winter weather can hurt the mics during shipping?

Meh.. not much point.. it'd be like getting an SM48 instead of an SM58. Sure, if you wanna save 30 or 40 bucks, or whatever the cost difference is.. but you're gonna regret not saving those extra pennies.

Until I plugged my SM57 in, I thought it was a weapon. Get an SM57.

you can find sm57's for anywhere from 50-60 and they don't die... I have a bunch of pg56s but I got them for about 30 bucks each... they are nice for their price

I have 4 PG57s..... they make excellent (and cheap!) talkback mics for the other musicians who aren't mic'd up in the studio. But the last thing anyone should ever use them for is recording purposes - they're horrible for that......

I agree .... or if you're stuck for cash - get a Sennheiser E835. I prefer them to the 57 in most situations anyway, and they're cheap! Very well built and will not crap out on you. I know it's not long but I've had one of my E845s for about four years now, it's taken some knocks but I'm yet to have any trouble from it.
