I was just wondering if someone owns or has used this mic on toms. Is it good enough for recording or should i get a sm57 or similar instead? I was interested in this mic because it is not expensive and comes with a drum mount and cable for $70.

I would spend the

extra $9 and get a 57. Oh, I guess it will be more because of a mount, and if you need the cable. I just know that that the 57 is so versatile, such a workhorse, and so well proven.

yeah, i know, but I was just curios about the pg56, i know the sm57 is a workhorse and very versitile but just wanted to hear any thoughts about the pg56.

I was looking at the getting the PG81's and the salesman told me the PG series had all the same components, it was just made south of the border. (Mexico) I decided to hold off and get something better. It seems like you could be the first to review them. Go for it.

The sm57 and sm58 are also made in mexico now and even more of their mics are made there.........correct me if i´m wrong.
