Hey guys!
I'm new to the boards and am looking for some advice.
I'm looking to set up a personal studio at my house (nothing too fancy)
and as far as my microphone choice, I am debating between the
Shure KSM27 or the AT4040. The guy at the music store, told me
that the Shure KSM27 is a much better microphone, but I would like to
hear some more opinions, since his could be biased. The microphone will
be used for strictly vocals, and the style of music will be R&B and rap.
As far as my tone of voice, I have a very thin/soft/smooth voice if that
helps at all. If there are other mics out there within the $280-300ish price
range that you feel are better, can you please list them and explain why?
Thanks for your time and help!

P.S. Can anybody lead me towards a good interface/pre-amp in the $150 price range, so I can hook the mic up to my computer?

I have a 4040, and it sounds pretty natural to me....on my voice. I do a different style of music, but it seems to capture what I put into it pretty well. If there is a way to try both side by side, do it.
