Shure beta 52

I'm just starting to record live drums. I have the basics covered with the exception of a decent kick drum mic. I'm using an SM57 on snare and KM184s as overheads. ( My other options are SP C1, MXL V63M, SM57, SM58, EV N/D 258, and EV N/D 158).

Does anyone have any opinions on the beta 52? Comparisons to the D112, RE20, M88 etc?

I like the beta 52 for the rock music I have been recording. You can listen to some tracks I recorded with it here:

I have no experience with the d112 or the beyer, but the re-20 has a flatter response where the 52 emphasizes the attack & the bottom & scoops the mids more.

Beta 52 is a really good mic.Its the Sm57 of bass drums

I never tried this mic... and I never heard bad comments about it so, the Beta52 should be a good mic! I'm used to the e602, but I think I'll rent a Beta 52 soon...
