Shure Beta 52

I have the opportunity to get a New Beta 52 for next to nothing from a freind who bought a Mic Package. He thought the 52 wasn't included and uses a D112 for his Kick drum. I could use it (especially for the price) but I don't have any experience with one.

How does it compare with the D112 in relation to kick drum and maybe adding a little bass cabinet to a direct track?

Any reviews anywhere?
