Hello, I bought a box of stuff at an auction for a dollar, that contained a Shure 578 "Omnidyne" mic. I'm sure it's not very good, but would like to know what type of mic this is regardless.(dynamic, condenser?) Looks like an a Shure 81 condenser, but smaller. The cord is integral and lo-z with a XLR on it. Thanks
fitz:)

i'd guess by the name that it's an omnidirectional condensor, but other than that, i've no idea.

Well, you got yourself a dual impedence omnidirectional dynamic mic for high quality public adress and recording applications.

This link should tell you what you need to know. The last one rolled off the assembly line in 1984, and it's probably a fair close mic for acoustic instruments.-Richie
