I've got an old Shure model 51 that I need to get inside of to be able to replace the grill cloth, and to wire it for XLR. Trouble is, I can't seem to get it all the way open. I removed the combination mount/jack at the swivel, and there are two screws on the lower part of the shell that I was able to remove, but there's still something in the upper part of the shell that prevents it from opening more than about 1/4" at the bottom edge.
hooThe only two things that come to mind would be either a lip that one half of the shell hooks into the other with, or a screw hidden behind the Shure logo insert that's above the grille. I'd really rather not go prying that insert out if I can avoid it, so if anyone knows for certain how the shell is held together, I'd greatly appreciate hearing about it.
Thanks!
