Yellow Aeroballoon:

Good song. Your voice really sounds a lot like the guy from Mr. Bungle/ Faith No More here. I'd be reallu interested to hear what kind of mixer/ mikes, guitar and amp you use.

I listened to Lover's Hill, but the live streaming was too bassy, so I downloaded Emerald i, which is a beautiful, beautiful song. Great sound on it too. I'm really impressed with the complexity of the drum parts - they don't sound as good as live, but they sound really good - are you fudging the rhythm slightly in places to make it sound less mechanical? And what are you using for reverb? Don't say CEP... LOL.

Hey how do you like my slick new avatar?! It's supposed to be animated, but I can't figure it out. It was animated when I saved it from the other web page, but now it's not. If you save an animated gif from a page, will it stay animated, or is there a trick?

woah, you didn't have to post that many did you?:P
Anyways, Ill try to answer all your questions in one post.
Lover's hill was definitely mastered.Although maybe next time I master it Ill tinker with bringing up the levels. As for the bassyness of it, I know. I think it was the way I played the bass. I wanted it bassy with attack sorta synth like. But its a good thing you brought it up. Ill Try to add more dimension on it later.
Break ing of Mel Sound: it's funny you should say modern old bowie, cuz I only listen to a lot of modern bowie( post Tin Machines). Im really going for the production of Brian Eno that was done with Bowie's Outside album. It definitely can be heard in Lover's Hill. But I was intensionally going for a very raw and barebones for Mel Sound. Mel's story is sort based in the 1920's hense the ending "talkie" movie theatre thing.
Emerald I, i get a lot of response on that. In the forum's and everywhere.
Ciirclesprint, yup thats a vocoder at the end "laced" with cocain.no.. with a pretty simple saw tooth lead wave form synth.
Harmony follows Unity:thought I'd combine two songs together. Then in the middle of the last one, add a smaller song. I get bit for the crash samples i used in Unity(1st song). So don't listen to it again just to hear the crashes. You'll be unpleasantly irrated.
If you want to see a list of influences just click the bio link somewhere on that page.
Really Mad Monsters: distortion I used was a Korg Toneworks Hyper Distortion pedal. It was my friends and I just quickly lay down the tracks when he was out for a few hours. No I didn't knock him unconsious, he left my house to do something.
1984 is my genius baby. I must say it's one of my most bravest attempts at rock opera.I surprise myself at the complexety of the composition.I hope I could pull it off sometime in the future.Unfortunately I did all the vocals with a Shure SM58. :P
As the song was recorded before I got my trusty Rode NT1 condenser mic which is pour bliss. I recommend that mic for your first cond. mic. as it is my only one. heh.

You know I might give Mr.Bungle a listen as it is the lead guy's solo thing from Faith No More. I sorta stray aaway from Faith because it has such a heavyness to them that I really can't get into without really..anyways.

Are you sure it was a gif at the beginning or did you rename it as a gif. If it was a php extension then it wont be saved animated. as it's a java thing i think.

i don't know. Just tried to save the pic as a file and it pops up as *.php

ALL of that is SBLive (Dell OEM, best option available at the time) and CEP. The recording itself was done on a Yamaha MD-8 minidisc 8-track, and then imported two tracks at a time to CEP (if it was tracked. some of those songs are stereo recordings).

If you listen to "Find My Way," you'll probably notice the bass line is ahead of everything else. Because I can't sync the 8 tracks going into the card (because there are only two going in at a time, and the start cues are arbitrary), I have to zoom into the multitrack view and try to sync the pulses of bass and drums... it's not THAT noticeable, but you can tell it's ahead of other stuff.

Other than that, I don't have much to offer. I don't multitrack w/ my computer (YET! :D).

Hey Kelly, nice stuff. I listened to the first four songs. Actually this is my second listen, I also downloaded 2 or 3 several months back when you had posted I think Pink Floise in the MP3 mixing forum. I especially like d Pink Floise, it added a nice change in dimension from your other songs. Cool beans, thanks.
