Should we make a sticky for...

...songs that were created with tape, be it cassette or open reel? I know there is a mp3 section, but I figure that there could be a sticky for tracks done on cassette and one for r2r, or hell, even combine them. It might be something to spark the interest of the newcomers (as well as enjoyment and amazement for the experienced). In the past few months you guys have put up some outstanding songs that showcase how good tape (along with good tracking/mixing/etc.) can sound. Just a thought.;)

Sure! Why not? How about we also include stuff tracked digital but mixed to tape, or tracked to tape and mixed digital? Some people might try out one or the other before doing stuff that is all analog.

I'll have a few good links to add in a couple of months. I'm still in the middle of wiring all of my gear together and restoring/repairing a number of things :)
 
great idea, a lot of you guys know so so so much about analog recordings on this forum and there is only so much you can write in a post... i could learn so much just from hearing other peoples recordings in analog. I rarely hear any analog recordings apart from my own except of course studio albums that we buy, but the techniques and sound you get from studio analog recordings is really hard to put into practice in a little 4 or 8 track tape deck but actually hearing other more experienced peoples' work on similar equipment as your own.... wow that would be great.

Hummm, nothing so far. I hope this is a doable thing. I would love to see this get off the ground.
 
Do we need to hook up with a mod to get it started or what? I love the idea.
 
I'd love to see it, that's why I threw the idea out there.:p Now, if only I knew how to play an instrument and record/track/mix/produce/etc...:(
 
I'm confused why you wouldn't want to use the MP3 Clinic to post your material. Why the need for a sticky??

I guess we could use the MP3 Clinic for our tunes, but we want to be able to separate our recordings from the norm. I think it would be a little harder to their.

I use the tape medium for all the experimental / lo fi stuff. Last time I stuck anything up in the .mp3 forum off tape I got the 'it sounds weird' kind of comments from people who'd probably never been near a tape in their lives - especially not a cassette multitracker or a mono full track. I know it sound's weird, it's supposed to sound weird, it's experimental tape recording with very limited track capability and no overdubbing. It's not ProTools or Reaper or anything that sounds remotely like that.

So when we make tape based recordings it'd be nice to have them in a place where those that are interested and have an understanding of what's involved in making them can put them.

Kinda makes sense to me.
