I have an unfinished beat with a brass riff that I played using my Korg Triton. For some reason, it doesnt sit in my mix correctly and it bothers me to continue making the track without knowing what to do. I tried a lil reverb but maybe I did it wrong. The brass part comes in hard but doesnt blend well with the drums. What should I do? This happens to me all the time. Listen to the snippet!

Sounds freakin' fine to me. If anything, I'd lose the bells...almost gives it a Christmas vibe...LOL. That horn part, I think, could actually be louder, and then pulled down when a vocal comes in on top.

Oh, by the way, most of the crap I do is considered "country" by folks around here, so keep that in mind before you take my opinion too seriously. :D

Ok I'm using Fruity Loops to sequence the beat and Cool Edit Pro 2 and Nuendo to record my vocals later on. How do I go about pulling it down when the vocals come in. Im not good with the automation function. When I use automation, It automates when I pull the event back up to its original volume; so it sounds like a fade in when I automate. Any more suggestions?

cool info Chris! Anyone else have any suggestions of what I can do to make this track better before I continue???

I'd have to agree about loosing the jingle bells....maybe you could replace 'em with a thick tambourine. As far as the triton sound...if it was me. I'd try a moog sound with a slight delay....not too heavy on the delay though
