I'm making a feature film with a friend on a budget that is next to nothing. I was wondering if anyone had opinions on a inexpensive, yet higher quality, field recorder (yeah, oxymoron, I know).

The use would be for capturing sounds mostly for foley in the field. I don't require any do-dads for editing on-board or musical related tools. Simply record and export; format needed would be minimum wav at 16 bit, 48k.

Thanks for all suggestions

Kyle

I've had very good luck with Zoom H4n. It profits from having higher quality outboard mics plugged into it. Do you have any good outboard mics already?-Richie

The H2 is shockmount friendly and will mount on a boom....Ive been using one in this fashion.

The new Kodak Zi8 has stero mic inputs...Ive been sneaking the combo into concerts
