Shopping advise -upcomming week! really need help!!!

I will visit the music store this comming week and spend some money...
My main opinion is BETTER GOOD THAN CHEAP but of course I will not spend more money that necessary...

I have been looking at the M-Audio FIREWIRE 1814... But I would like to be able to record 2 guitars and 2 vocals at the same time.
What shall I buy? What do you recomend? Any suggestions? Cost-effective? Value for money?
I will buy something this upcomming week so help is really needed!!

(Is the Firewire 1814 (+ a DI box/stand alone preamp) something you would recomend or have yopu other things you recomend???)

This would be my choice. Besides being $200 cheaper it will fill the bill for the four analog inputs and has garnered very good reviews.

Hmm... the firebox will not do (if I am not wrong) as it will not be able to record 2 guitars AND 2 vocals at the same time...as it only has 2 preamps...

My ideal product would be the Presonus Firebox (as you recomended) or the M-audio FireWire 1814 BUT WITH 4 PREAMPS....

Any other suggestion/shopping advise...?

well for an interface/pre amp have you had a look at the Mackie Onyx 800R, It's rack mountable and has eight microphone pre amps, also 7 & 8 can be used for line inputs, for going direct (acts as a DI). It has variable microphone input impedance control allows for precise preamp "tuning" to each mic. I think its about 1K US.

Or you could go for the Mackie Onyx 400F, same thing but with only 4 microphone pre amps. 1&2 can be used for line inputs also. I goes for about $700 US

although if you need intrument inputs (1/4" inputs) then maybe an alesis multimix firwire. although i dont know if there out yet.
