Just wondered if any one else has noticed this. Just bought Ambassador Weatherking 14" coated batter head & hazy reso. The welds that connect the head rings were so big & sharp it scraped the outside rim of my snare. Evans seeem to have a nice clean join, but this is shocking, had to get my dremel on to the weld to even it out. Surely this will inhibit a good tune, AS WELL AS SCRAPING THE PAINT OFF OF MY F*CKING NEW SNARE!!!

Sorry, pretty annoyed

okay

So has noone else encountered this problem? The first two remo heads I've bought had this problem . Both heads cannot be put on the drum without force,(we all know (even me now :p) how a little pressure, or minute tweek of a lug can alter tuning drastically) surely this will not help but hinder head tuning. Have I just been unlucky or are all remo heads like this. If so I think I'll stick with evans (even although they don't seem to produce a single 7mil head)

I hope my jokey thread opener hasn't offended, I thought you would have understood me by now lads ;) :D

I would return the heads (unless of course you bought them on line). I would also call Remo and explained the problem - while they likely would not offer to repair the drum they may offer replacement heads (if you would even want more heads from Remo)

While I've been an Evans user for many years - I used Remo for decades and never ran into the type of quality issue you've mentioned.

Too bad about the damage to your drum!

No worries man, just a little annoying. I'm sticking with evans from now on, 2 remo heads = 2 problems, bad luck... nah!! I just liked the sound of a sample on the snare drum shoot out thread & it was of course remo endowed. So switched, never again!!
