I am pulling my hair out trying to get my Behringer 1832FX mixer to connect to my laptop so I can record some tracks through Audactiy.

Here is my mixer

Here is the external USB device that plugs into my laptop

Can someone please tell me how to hook all this stuff up?
I want to plug my 4 keyboards into say Channel 1,2,3,4 and record the keyboard tracks for a song. Then have a guitar plug into a channel and record its part, then the bass, and eventually the drums (using about 5 mics for the drums, so 5 channels)

I appreciate anyone’s help. Once I can get my keyboards working and able to record in Audacity, I should be OK with getting all the other instrument tracks laid down.

I'm not sure from your post but are your trying to use both devices at the same time? The mixer you have already has USB connectivity. Why the second interface?

Just connect the mixer to your laptop. It uses a "generic class" driver and the OS will recognize it. In Audacity go to the edit tab and select preferences. Select your mixer as the playback and record source and you should be good to go. If you need to monitor your Audacity input, select the down arrow below the mic meter and select monitor input.

If you are looking for 4 separate inputs from these two USB interfaces, it just won't work. The OS will not allow you more than one active device.

I am only using 1 mixer and 1 external USB device which is connected to my laptop. I have set the preferences in Audacity, but I am not sure if is working. I don't see any "siganl" in audicity to know if it is working

ok you have two choices here:
you can either
a). connect the mixer directly to your laptop using a USB connection (which is your best bet)
b). connect the 1/4" main outputs of your mixer to the RCA inputs of your UCA200 using two 1/4" to RCA adapters.

if your using windows go to control panel -> sounds and audio devices -> audio devices. then on the "audio" tab make sure your behringer interface is set as the main device in both "sound playback" and "sound recording". do the same thing in the "voice" tab.

next make sure your behringer interface is the default recording device in audacity.

after that you should be good to go.

One of my few complaints with Behringer is that they advertise right on the box "With USB Interface". Something like that.
But it's not.
In the box you will find this little gizmo through which you run your right and left lines out (unbalanced) and also 2 lines back into the mixer.
It then feeds a stereo signal into your PC via USB.
My salesman was honest enough to tell me this but I still bought it because I wanted a mixer.
It's a great mixer but it's not an audio interface. It's too noisy for that.
I use it as a headphone monitor for overdubs but not ever as a recording device.
As to the USB device. You're not stupid. The instructions and the markings on the device are extremely ambiguous. You'll have to fiddle, I'm afraid.

By the way, you could put the thing in a drawer and just use the "Line in" on the computer. It doesn't make any difference to your signal.
