Hi All,

I would appreciate any help that anyone can offer (especially someone with a similar setup).

(Setup: I have my POD XT connected via USB to my Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) PC with a SB Audigy 2 sound card.)

I am setting up a PC for recording and I am having a bit of trouble getting things exactly the way I want them. Preferably, I would like to be able to record using my Pod XT USB connection, and playback my mix using my Audigy 2's output to my computer's regular well-balanced speaker system. While recording, I'd like to be able to monitor existing tracks (say: things I have recorded earlier), midi instruments and vst plugins (I use EZDrummer). I wouldn't mind at all if this came through the POD and I had to monitor it through my PODs headphone jack or regular outputs.

But it seems that the only way I can record using my POD XT is by using the ASIO drivers. When I have ASIO selected, neither EZDrummer nor pre-existing audio tracks will playback. I haven't played with MIDI yet.

How can I set up Sonar so I can record guitar via USB over (and while listening to) existing audio, MIDI and EZDrummer tracks?

Thanks!

And maybe this goes without saying, but when I record a guitar track using ASIO, then switch to WDM, I am unable to play back my recording.

...hold up if anyone is considering posting a long reply....

I just had some success.

So it looks like my only problem is if I try to record using the POD XT and ASIO drivers into a project that has audio tracks that I had previously recorded using my old mixer (and, presumably the WDM driver).

Is it not possible to recording using the ASIO driver into a project with WDM-recorded audio in it?

Damn, I swear I got it working once, but I can't recreate it...

So back to the original question: Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how best to configure this setup in Sonar?

...sorry to keep droning on here, but I think I've found a reason why this has been so hard to troubleshoot.

It seems that my connection to the Pod XT has been turning on and off on its own at somewhat regular intervals. It will be working (audio can be recorded from and played back to the POD in ASIO mode) for three or four minutes, then nothing for three or four minutes... Anyone have any experience with this?

Problem solved.

I think the USB hub that my POD XT was plugged into was the culprit.
