hello
Fellaz-
I am thinking about setting up a portable studio. I would probably use a laptop. What should I look for in a laptop?
What else should I get? I'm toally unfamiliar with computer based recording, and have only done hardware stuff.
Any suggestions would be much welcomed.

What the heck? Are you back Nilbog? It sure has been long since we saw you around here.

Hello,

if you're looking for a laptop have a look at the apple ibooks (more affordable) or powerbooks, more expensive but better.
I have an apple ibook 800 Mhz running logic audio 5.5 never had a problem with it.

hope this helps
bye
Marco.

I would agree with that, if you want to go Apple. I really liked the iBooks, and considered them when I got my notebook. The only reason I didn't get one is because I am working on my BS in Computer Information Systems, and I need something that can run VB6 along with a bunch of other Win-only apps.

hmmm...

Thanks for the info, it's given me some good places to start.

And YES I'm back for good...

If you actually want to get everything recorded easily and dependably get a HDR system. I don't even trust laptops for software demos at work.
