here's a crappy cell phone pic from the setup i played with last weekend at some little outdoor party.
this is like the low level PDP kit that belonged to the band's previous drummer, and man was it fucked. the two little pole mounts for the toms were put in the wrong sides, so the memory locks were facing the wrong way haha, it was impossible to get a key on em. each tom had 4 pieces of duct tape around the batter head, and the floor tom legs were put on upside down, so it was extremely low. and the mounted toms were all spread out and angled way down, like the top heads were almost facing my chest!
they actually sounded pretty decent after i rearranged and tuned them up and got everything right. the kick sounded like shit though, but the heads were really fucked up on it.
anyway, the setup isn't as flat as my own drum set because the shells are bigger, but pretty similar setup here. i used my own throne, snare/stand, hi hats/pedal, my old PDP double kicker, the crash/stand on the right, and the splash/stand in the middle. the left crash and far right ride were B8s that belonged to the previous drummer, actually not that shitty sounding for a budget cymbal. oh and i made $200 at the gig, sweet! enough to help me get that Iron Cobra double kicker that i've had my eye on forever.

Nice! A question: you obviously like everything close together, why not tuck the ride in a little, like overhanging the outer third of the floor?

cuz then i'll accidentally smack it all the time!
i like the ride to be a little more forward and farther away, that way i have to extend my arm to hit the bell. it feels more comfortable that way, more than having my arm all bent. plus i really don't use the ride TOO much, and it never really involves a lot of speed, so it doesn't need to be too close for me. but i have to have the snare and toms in close relation to each other for speed purposes hehe.

I don't have any pics; no decent camera - but my Pearl is all kinda high but flat, I have Power Toms so they're all deep and stuff, makes things more dificult.
The other is the ol' Ludwig (1965 I think - I'd like to know more about it if any Ludwig experts wanna message me), set up flat, low, and close with 2 cymbals to get a nice Vintage look going on.

I'm not a drummer but I have a two kits at my studio and here's something one of my clients setup recently using my drums.
I have two tracking rooms and they each have their own drum, hence the different colours. All of the heads were replaced prior to tracking (took awhile to tune them all!) and of course holes were cut into the front bass drum heads.

here's mine late 80's/early 90's Pearl Export kit. this was taken a year ago March. a few things have changed since then (mostly in terms of the room and i've since added a DW snare) but it's mostly here.
I've got a late 60's Ludwig kit that's not currently setup. it's smaller and less versatile sounding. it gets brought out only when i need that 60's Ludwig sort of sound.
