Alright, some of you might think this thread is a joke seeing as I have almost 500 threads posted here and have made about 499 of them about Logic Audio. Well I have had to re-install Logic Audio on a new computer. I went through a 6 month hell when I first tried to configure Logic Audio to my JV1010. Finally one of you BBS'ers decided to be an angel and send me a step by step explaination of what to do. And the biggest thing I overlooked was the MSB anbd LSB settings found on page 37 of the Roland JV1010 manuel. A guy from this BBS (thanks Ash) sent me an e-mail with instructions on where I need to type this information in and it worked and suddenly everything was Jim Fu&%$*g Dandy. Well that was over a year ago and I never thought about it again. Once I got it set up I just forgot about it.
I called the German help line from emagic, and tried to get that person to explain it to me. The convirsation was not so helpful. First of all the help line person was a woman, and me being the sexist asshole that I didn't know I was, asked to speak to the help line technicians, and when she said, "This is the technical support help line." I of course said "YOU are tech support." Immediatly feeling the Nike go right past the teeth and straight into the mouth.
Anyway, when i explained to her my problem, she laughed and said that she could not give me such special user support as everything I need to know for this is in the Logic Audio User's manuel.
And I am sure that she is 100% right. I am sure that how to make Logic Audio play the right sounds from my JV 1010 is in that monster of a book. but the book doesn't follow any kind of Logic as I can see. It starts off telling you about how to resize the screen and how to lock screen sets immediatly, and then launches right into Using Audio in the Arrange Window. I just don't know HOW to use that book. I can't just read it cover to cover. And the things I need to know, I am not recording savvy enough to even know the correct words or terminology for what I am looking for.

I know that I when i look in my JV1010 Patch lists and find a sound I want to record... I cannot make Logic go to that sound. Instead it chooses Applause, or a Helicopter, or some techno bass sound. I assume that it has something to do with me getting my JV1010 to sommunicate with my Logic Audio via MSB and LSB settings. But... WHERE do I type these settings in? And/or WHERE in the Logic Audio King james Bible do I find this issue addressed?

Thanks guys,

Mike

I am not at my computer right now so I dont have the link, but you can go to a site on the net and download the jv1010 environment and work with that.

I beleive that you should also have that environment on the CD

I started out using the msb and LSB, but everytime I switched songs and switched back, my setting were gone and new sounds would be playing. This is so frustrating.

with the environment, you select patches by name and they never go away.

i can#t find the JV1010 environment ANYWHERE on the web. Where do I find it?

LOL! I work with a woman who gets really pissed when a guy asks to speak to someone who "knows."

The info you seek is chapter 5, verse 32, or 5-32,"Defining Your Own Bank Select Commands." If you do it right, it should never go away. Thou shalt have no sequencer before me.

With Soundiver, you can transfer the patch names and everything automatically. Then you can select patches by name. Remember the Soundiver, stay to keep it holy.

Check the attachment. I had to save it in text format to attach it here.

BTW, did you ever download that song? I went ahead and made a decent attempt at the drums myself. Let me know if you're still interested/have time. It may take you awhile to figure out all those busses on your new mixer... and your MOTU...special NTK power supply....

Hey, just had an idea. Maybe you can use my autoload. You may be able to change a few things on the driver setting, etc. Or maybe you can cut and paste the settings you need, I don't know. At the very least it should load up after a few error messages you can choose to ignore, and just see how I have everything setup. I'll try to email it.

Open midi instr. environment, click the jv1010 icon, then go OPTIONS>DEFINE CUSTOM BANK MESSAGES.
