hi guys i just orderd a Sennheiser E825s mic today .this mic would be my first semi-decent microphone and i was just wondering if anybody had and opinions about it ,what they dis-like or what they like about it how it compares to a sm58 for example i would be grateful for any comments

Need validation? You are gonna love it. It will need a little different treatment in the eq dept than the shure but once you get her tweaked, you will be pleased
 
I agree with Big Kenny - it's a good-sounding mic. You'll notice a smoother top end, less midrange peaking, and less proximity effect on the bottom, compared to an SM58. Most people characterize the 825 as having "lots of clarity".
 
I like it, along with the 835 because it reduces proximity effect well. And the 865 for a stage handheld condenser is a good one too.
